Nimrod was the infidel king of Babylon, and he had a dispute with Abraham, peace be upon him, as mentioned by Allah in Surat Al-Baqarah: "Have you not considered him who disputed with Abraham concerning his Lord, because Allah had given him sovereignty? When Abraham said, 'My Lord is He who gives life and causes death,' he said, 'I give life and cause death.' Abraham said, 'Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west.' So the disbeliever was dumbfounded. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." There is no mention of a story involving him with a child or a boy.

Rather, the story of the believing boy with the infidel king, and what happened concerning his killing and the people's faith, is the story of the People of the Ditch (Ahl al-Ukhdud) narrated by Muslim. Its summary is that a boy learned from a monk and became skilled in healing by Allah's permission. A companion of the king, who was blind, believed in him, and both he and the monk were tortured until they were killed. The king tried to kill the boy twice without success. The boy then asked the king to kill him by shooting an arrow in the name of Allah, the Lord of the boy, in front of the people. The king did so, and the boy was killed. All the people then believed. The king became angry and ordered the digging of ditches and lighting fires in them, casting anyone who did not recant their religion into them. This continued until a woman came with her child, and the child spoke, commanding her to be patient.

One should avoid the expression "His Holiness Abraham" (حضرة إبراهيم), as the agreed-upon motto for prophets is to invoke blessings and peace upon them.
