The question

Does a wife deserve alimony, a dowry, or any legitimate dues after she asked to go to her family's home with her husband's consent, then disobeyed and refused to return to her home despite his repeated attempts to bring her back, whereupon he divorced her and took her back, then she refused to return after her family abandoned her?

The answer

A wife who refuses to return to her husband's home is considered disobedient (nashiz), and therefore has no right to maintenance or housing, unless she is pregnant, in which case she is entitled to maintenance for the duration of the pregnancy. The deferred dowry (mahr mu'akhkhar) is a right of the wife that is not forfeited by her disobedience. Her custody of her daughter is not forfeited except by a impediment. The husband must provide housing and maintenance for his daughter with her custodial mother.
