Is weeping from the stories of the prophets and love for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, considered weeping out of fear of Allah, carrying the same reward, and is it praiseworthy and characteristic of the Messenger and the prophets?

Weeping at the stories of the prophets, if it is for admonition, lesson, and fear of God’s punishment, then it is from the fear of God. As for weeping out of the fear of God, it is that which stems from contemplating His greatness and the servant’s sins; it is the weeping of those who strive against their own souls. And in the Hadith: "Two eyes shall not be touched by the Fire: an eye that wept out of the God’s fear, and an eye that spent the night guarding in the path of God." The first is the rank of those who strive against their souls and repent, and the second is the rank of those who strive in worship. Fear and awe are similar, and fear motivates servants to work and seek knowledge to attain closeness to God.
