The answer

If a man dies and leaves behind a wife, a mother, three uterine brothers, and a sister's daughter, the inheritance is distributed as follows: the wife gets one-fourth, the mother gets one-sixth, and the uterine brothers get one-third. The sister's daughter gets nothing. As for the remaining one-fourth of the inheritance, it is returned to the mother and the uterine brothers according to the Hanafis and Hanbalis, while it goes to the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal) according to the Malikis and Shafi'is. It is agreed among scholars that it is not returned to the spouses.
