How can one deal with a mother who treats her children kindly outside the home but exhibits cruelty, threats, and verbal abuse inside, leading to psychological and physical harm to her daughter, especially since religious advice often focuses on disobeying parents and does not address this specific situation?

The rights of parents are immense, and showing dutifulness to them is one of the greatest obligations, while disobeying them is one of the gravest sins. Dutifulness to the mother is more emphasized than dutifulness to the father. However, the mother's wrongdoing does not negate her right to dutifulness and good companionship, just as Allah commanded good companionship with polytheist parents. Therefore, it is advised to be dutiful to the mother and visit her in a way that does no harm, and to focus on what is beneficial without dwelling on what weakens the soul.
