Is the prayer of one who repented before the elapse of 40 nights from his questioning a soothsayer whom he did not believe accepted? And is the period of non-acceptance of prayer doubled for one who questioned a sorcerer twice? And does the warning of non-acceptance of prayer for 40 nights include one who listened to or watched movies or series containing acts of sorcerers? And how do we reconcile belief in sorcery with the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever comes to a soothsayer and believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad"?

Whoever goes to a diviner or a soothsayer and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. If he believes what he says, then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad; for Allah says: (Say: None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah). The effect of this sin lasts for forty days. If he goes to the soothsayer twice, then the non-acceptance of his prayer continues for forty days from the last time. The one who repents from this sin will be forgiven, and its effects will be removed from him. It is feared that whoever watches programs claiming knowledge of the unseen without condemnation may be subject to this punishment. Divination and magic share the claim of knowing the unseen, and the sorcerer who claims knowledge of the unseen is subject to the same warning as the diviner.
