Is the wife considered sinful if she tells her family by phone about her husband's characteristics and behaviors that trouble her, and about traits she dislikes in her husband's family, knowing that her family does not interfere but that she only uses them for catharsis because she is abroad? And what is the ruling of Islamic law on the husband eavesdropping on her phone calls with her family, recording them, and keeping them without her knowledge, under the pretext that he wants to know what she tells her family about him?

Marriage should be built upon affection and understanding, and disputes between spouses should be resolved internally. A third party should not be involved unless absolutely necessary, to resolve a conflict or seek advice. Mentioning disagreements merely for emotional release, or if it leads to unwanted interference from family, is undesirable. Differences should be handled with wisdom, overlooking what can be overlooked, and maintaining good companionship.

Moreover, mentioning the flaws and shortcomings of the husband's family is forbidden backbiting and a grave sin, unless it is for the purpose of removing injustice, warding off harm, or seeking advice and guidance. In such cases, mentioning shortcomings for a legitimate Islamic benefit is permissible.

The best way to endure harm is through piety towards Allah, seeking His help, maintaining adhkar (remembrances of Allah), and treating in-laws kindly, as Allah states: "Repel [evil] with that which is better; then suddenly, he to whom between you and him was enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good]." (Quran 41:34-35)

The husband has no right to spy on his wife or record her calls. In summary, it is impermissible to speak ill of the husband or his family except to avert harm or seek advice, and it is essential to handle all problems with wisdom and composure.
