Does the 'Aqeeqah protect the newborn from the calamities of time and detested things, and is it a cause for their tranquility and righteousness?

The child is held in pledge by his 'aqiqa (sacrificial offering); this is because the 'aqiqa is a means for the child to intercede for his parents if he dies as a child. If no 'aqiqa is offered for him and he dies as a child, he will not intercede for them. As for linking the 'aqiqa to protecting the child from defects, or calming his movement, or ensuring righteous upbringing, we know of no basis for this.
