What is the ruling on one who cites half of Quranic verses and half of Hadiths to interpret the reality of the Ummah?

It is permissible to use part of a verse or a hadith as evidence, as long as it does not alter the meaning of the verse or hadith. For example, one may cite Allah’s saying: "They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths," or the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "The nations are about to call each other to set upon you, just as diners invite each other to a platter of food." However, restricting oneself to a part that distorts the meaning is not permissible.
