I would like to know the ruling on a woman in 'iddah, what are her rights and obligations?

An 'iddah-observing woman (mu'taddah) is either observing 'iddah due to divorce or death. Her rulings differ based on the type of 'iddah:

- A woman observing 'iddah due to revocable divorce (talaq raj'i): She is entitled to housing and all types of maintenance (nafaqah). It is forbidden for her to be proposed to by men, and she is obligated to remain in her home unless there is a necessity. - A woman observing 'iddah due to irrevocable divorce (talaq ba'in) (and she is pregnant): She is entitled to maintenance, and it is forbidden for her to marry until she delivers her child. - A woman observing 'iddah due to irrevocable divorce (talaq ba'in) (and she is not pregnant): She is not entitled to maintenance or housing, and it is forbidden for her to marry until her 'iddah concludes. - A woman observing 'iddah due to death: She is obligated to observe mourning (ihdad), to remain in the house where she is observing 'iddah, and it is forbidden for her to marry as long as she is in 'iddah.
