The calamities that afflict people in this world have two scenarios:

Either the servant is upright in their religion, in which case the calamities serve to elevate their ranks and heavily weight their scale of good deeds, as stated in the Hadith: "The people most severely tested are the Prophets, then those who are most like them, then those who are most like them."

Or the servant is persistent in disobedience, in which case the calamities serve as a warning for them to repent, or as a punishment for their sins. Indeed, sustenance may be withheld due to sin, and drinking alcohol is among the major sins.

The trials and problems that have befallen you might be due to your father's alcohol consumption. Therefore, you must advise him to abandon what Allah has forbidden and to show gratitude for blessings by spending them in ways that please Allah.
