What are the reasons for trials from Allah Almighty, and are they due to the servant's shortcomings in his relationship with his Lord?
Envy (hasad) and the evil eye have a severe impact on a person's life. Calamities may also be due to sins, as Allah Almighty said: "And whatever calamity befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much." When calamities strike, one must turn to Allah with repentance, supplication, seeking His help, and reliance upon Him, showing patience and not despairing. It is permissible to reflect on their causes for future benefit. A person cannot encompass Allah's wisdom in His decree. Allah created humanity to test them, whether through legal rulings or divine decrees, including calamities and blessings. The believer must be patient and content with Allah's decree, recalling the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, the greatness of the reward is commensurate with the greatness of the affliction. And when Allah loves a people, He tests them. So, whoever is content, for him is contentment, and whoever is discontent, for him is discontent."
