Are goats and sheep considered one and the same when given as zakat, or is it a condition to give a specific type of them?

Zakat is not obligatory on sheep unless they reach the nisab (threshold) and are sa'imah (pasturing) for the greater part of the year. Lambs and goats are considered one species, and each is combined with the other. If the nisab is reached and a year has passed, and there are two types, then a medium-sized sheep should be given as zakat, considering the value of both types of wealth. This is done by evaluating the nisab of each type and determining the value of the obligation, then taking it proportionally.
