The question

How can one choose a good role model in this era from among scholars and preachers, such that they meet the necessary conditions for Muslims to follow them in order to restore glory to Islam, based on His saying, the Almighty: "Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah, there will be no fear concerning them"?

The answer

The jurisprudential concept of a Wali (friend) of Allah is clarified in Allah's saying: "Unquestionably, [for] the awliya' of Allah, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve Those who believed and were fearing of Allah." So, every believing, pious person is a Wali of Allah, and piety is fulfilling commands and avoiding prohibitions, both secretly and openly. The abundance of scholars and preachers is a blessing, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that goodness will not cease in this Ummah. Whoever wishes to restore glory to the Ummah must first reform himself, then strive to reform others, because empowerment is conditioned upon obedience to Allah and His Messenger and establishing the rituals of the religion. The affairs of this Ummah will not be set right except by that which set right its first part: uprightness and adherence to the religion.
