What is the ruling on parents preventing their children from bringing in their poor friends for fear of the evil eye?

We advise you to convince your parents of the importance of being good to the poor and feeding them, and that charity increases wealth. Recite to them proofs from the Qur’an and Sunnah (definition) regarding its virtue. Fortify yourselves with the prescribed morning and evening remembrances (adhkar) against the evil eye and all evil. If your parents are not convinced and the house belongs to them, try to excuse yourself from your friends and apologize to them. Be sure to buy them some food and drinks outside the house, and seek your reward in being good to them.
