If a man's work does not involve anything forbidden, then his earnings are lawful (halal), and it is permissible to marry him. However, if his work involves something forbidden, such as spreading false news or promoting indecencies, then his work and earnings are unlawful (haram), and it is not permissible for a woman to accept him; because spending from unlawful earnings does not permit marriage. A woman should strive to choose a husband who is religious and of good character, consult wise people, and seek Allah's guidance (istikhara) before accepting.
