Is it permissible for two imams to deliver the Friday sermon, with the first delivering a part of it in Arabic, and the second completing it in the language of the people of the country (Spain), and then one of them leads the congregants in prayer?

The majority of scholars stipulated Arabic as a condition for the Friday sermon (khutbah), even if the worshippers are non-Arabs, because it is an act of worship (ta'abbudi), and they adduced as proof that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deliver sermons in Arabic. Whereas the Hanafis held that this is not a condition, and this view was supported by the Islamic Fiqh Academy, who pointed out that it is preferable to deliver the introductions to the sermon and the Qur'anic verses in Arabic to accustom non-Arabs to them, and then the preacher completes the admonition in their own language. Thus, the majority held that delivering the sermon in a language other than Arabic is invalid, and it is permissible to translate it after the prayer. As for the Hanafis, they permit the entire sermon to be delivered in a language other than Arabic.
