Is it permissible to use the inscriptions and decorations found on church walls in public buildings and homes?

If the embellishments and engravings are specific to Christians, such as the cross, or if they are images of animate beings, then it is not permissible for a Muslim to adorn buildings with them, due to the prohibition of images and crosses in the prophetic narrations. However, if the embellishments are not specific to Christians and are not images of animate beings, then there is no harm in using them for decoration, as long as there is no extravagance involved.
