Is it permissible to shorten a long beard to avert the harm of not getting married?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

"Goodness lies in following the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He commanded the growing of beards, and his beard, peace and blessings be upon him, was thick. If the beard is of a normal, unexcessive length, it is best not to trim it, but to care for it by combing it. However, if its length is excessive and disfiguring, it is permissible to remove the disfiguring part to prevent harm. Many scholars have also stated the permissibility of trimming what exceeds a fistful."
