Is it permissible to trim the beard slightly for adornment on the wedding day?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded that the beard be let grow, lengthened, and made full. The apparent meaning of the Ahadith prohibits trimming it, except for what has been reported about taking what exceeds a fistful, as this is authentically narrated from some Companions. However, it is better not to trim it at all, as this practice is not authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, or his rightly guided Caliphs. Shortening the beard does not constitute adornment; rather, adornment lies in keeping it in the form in which Allah created it. Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: "Glory be to Him who adorned men with beards."
