What is the ruling on trimming the beard, and what is your guidance for me, given that my wife asks me to do so for her aesthetic pleasure, and she believes that my beard disfigures my appearance?

Growing the beard is obligatory and shaving it is forbidden, due to the sound and clear evidence received concerning this, such as the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Trim the moustaches and let the beards grow," and his saying: "Trim the moustaches and lengthen the beards; act against the Majus," and his saying: "Act against the polytheists, trim the moustaches and let the beards grow fully." These Ahadith indicate the obligation of growing the beard and acting against the polytheists and the Majus. It is not permissible to obey one's wife in disobeying Allah, and you must explain to her that shaving the beard is a disobedience to the command of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and that a man's adornment lies in keeping his beard.
