What is the ruling on an engineer working in programming or supervising the programming of a system for registering subscribers to a satellite channel broadcasting service that includes impermissible content according to Islamic law, knowing that he does not directly contribute to selling or distributing the device, and if he is unable to refuse this work, should he leave the company?

The basic ruling for working in satellite communication services, including channels and telecommunications, is permissibility. However, this is unless the work directly involves committing a forbidden act or assisting in one, or if the service is predominantly used to receive forbidden channels of corruption. If the predominant use is to receive forbidden channels, then it is not permissible for you to work in programming or supervising this service, due to Allah's saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
