Does divorce occur when one jokingly says "game over" to his wife without the intention of divorce, knowing that the speaker understands its meaning to be "the game is over"?

The husband's statement to his wife, "The game is over," is neither an explicit nor an allusive (kinaya) divorce pronouncement. Therefore, divorce does not occur with it, even if the husband intended divorce by it.

Al-Shirbini, a Shafi'i scholar, defines kinaya as: "Any word that closely suggests separation, but its usage for this purpose has not become common in religious law or custom, such as 'travel away'."

One must be careful not to be lenient or joke about the matter of divorce, as it can lead to trivializing marriage and separation. For this reason, Allah Almighty said: "And do not take the verses of Allah in ridicule" (Quran 2:231).
