What is the effect of worship on the individual and society?

Worship is the ultimate purpose for which Allah created jinn and humans. It encompasses every act of obedience that brings one closer to Allah. Examples of acts of worship and their impact on the individual include: affirming the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid), prayer which restrains from indecency and evil, zakat which purifies the giver, fasting which instills piety and atones for sins, Hajj which atones for sins, the remembrance of Allah which reassures hearts, reciting the Quran which causes humility, and supplication (Du'a) which dispels worry and wards off affliction.

As for the impact of worship on society, it serves as a guarantee against divine punishments, a protection from the schemes of enemies, and a cause for economic prosperity and the descent of blessings from the heavens and the earth.
