Is a Muslim woman, newly converted to Islam and living with her non-Muslim family, obligated to perform the 'Aqiqah for her newborn after divorcing her Muslim husband who resides in another country? And how is the 'Aqiqah performed? Is she also required to recite the Adhan in the newborn's ear?

Aqiqah is a recommended Sunnah, and it should originally be from the father of the newborn's wealth. It is permissible for someone other than the father to perform Aqiqah for the newborn if the father falls short, refuses, or if the father grants permission to someone else, based on the Aqiqah performed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn. The mother is not obligated to perform Aqiqah, but it is recommended for her to do so if the father refuses or is unable. As for the adhan in the newborn's ear, no authentic hadith has been reported concerning it, even though some jurists consider it recommended. It is permissible for a woman to do it because it is not like the adhan for prayer.
