Is it permissible for a woman observing 'iddah to shop for her children's needs herself, and to go to the doctor, and what follows from that of interaction with men, and is there expiation for her previous outings?

A woman whose husband has died must observe a mourning period (iddah) of four months and ten days, unless she is pregnant, in which case her iddah ends upon delivery. She must remain in the house where her husband died and where she resides, and she should not leave except out of necessity or dire need. It is forbidden for her to wear beautiful clothes, adorn herself with any type of jewelry, apply perfume, or use cosmetics on her face or eyes. She is permitted to speak with men within the bounds of propriety and modesty. There is no expiation required if she violates the rulings of the iddah, but she must seek forgiveness and repent.
