What is the ruling on women visiting graves in general, and young girls in particular, and what is the ruling on a person who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) or menstruation (ha'id) visiting them?

Scholars have differed regarding women visiting graves. The majority hold it to be disliked (makruh), citing the hadith "Allah has cursed women who frequently visit graves" and due to the tenderheartedness of women. Conversely, the Hanafi school, in its more authoritative view, considers it commendable (mustahabb) for both women and men, based on the hadith "Visit them, for they remind you of the Hereafter." They clarify that the dislikeability only applies if the visit is for renewing grief and wailing. Imam Ahmad and the Shafi'is (in one opinion) favored that it is not disliked if temptation (fitna) is avoided. This is the more preponderant opinion due to the generality of the hadith "Visit them," and due to A'ishah's action of visiting graves, and interpreting the hadith of cursing as referring to those who frequently visit. There is no difference in ruling between young girls and elderly women, nor between a menstruating woman or one in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and others, regarding visiting graves.
