What is the ruling on spending vast sums of money to purchase antique collectibles belonging to celebrities or revered figures?

This act is forbidden for several reasons:

1. Idolatry: It leads to polytheism, seeking blessings from relics, and becoming attached to their owners, which caused polytheism among previous nations. 2. Extravagance and Wastefulness: Spending money to acquire these relics is extravagance and wastefulness, both of which Allah Almighty has forbidden, as He says: (And do not spend wastefully. Indeed, squanderers are brothers of devils) and (And eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess). 3. Interdiction of the Foolish: Islamic law mandates interdiction for the foolish and the wasteful, based on the saying of Allah Almighty: (And do not give the foolish your property, which Allah has made a means of sustenance for you).

Guardians of affairs must put an end to this behavior and direct these funds towards the path of Allah, such as sponsoring orphans, feeding the poor and needy, and funding charitable projects.
