Is it true that it is not permissible to touch a woman's body after she dies?

It is not permissible for a non-mahram man to touch a woman after her death, just as it is not permissible during her lifetime. Scholars have made an exception for spouses, so it is permissible for each of them to wash the other. The jurists have agreed that respecting the awrah of the deceased is obligatory, and they have emphasized the impermissibility of touching it or looking at it without a barrier, except in cases of recognized necessity, such as carrying her to the grave while she is wrapped in the shroud.
