Is it permissible for a student to break their fast in Ramadan so they can focus on their secondary school final exams?

It is not permissible to break the fast in Ramadan for the sake of an examination, because it is not a legitimate excuse. Fasting is obligatory, and studying should be done at night if it is difficult during the day. Those who set examinations should be lenient with students and schedule them outside of Ramadan; for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Allah, whoever is entrusted with any matter of my Ummah and is lenient with them, be lenient with him; and whoever is entrusted with any matter of my Ummah and is harsh with them, be harsh with him."
