What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "O Allah, I ask You, by virtue of all praise being due to You, there is no god but You, the Giver of all good, O Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of majesty and honor, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I ask You," and then supplicating for whatever one desires?

The aforementioned Hadith is authentic, narrated by Imam Ahmad and the compilers of the Sunan. Its wording, from Anas ibn Malik, is that a man invoked Allah by His Greatest Name: "O Allah, I ask You, for all praise is due to You; there is no god but You, the Bestower of all bounties, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of majesty and honor, O Ever-Living, O Self-Subsisting." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: "Indeed, he has invoked Allah by His Greatest Name, by which if He is supplicated, He responds, and if He is asked, He gives."
