Steadfastness in faith and adherence to Islamic law is the goal of every sincere Muslim. Among the things that help in achieving this are:

Devoting oneself to reading the Qur'an: (كَذَلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلاً) "Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have recited it with progressive recitation."

Increasing good deeds and staying away from sins: (يُثَبِّتُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ) "Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter." (وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِ لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتاً) "And if they had done what they were admonished thereby, it would have been better for them and more steadfastness [for them]."

Reading the stories of the prophets, the Companions, and the righteous: (وَكُلّاً نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ) "And each [story] We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make firm your heart."

Turning to Allah with supplication and humility: (رَبَّنَا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا) "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us." (رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْراً وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا) "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet." And the supplication of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion."

Striving for good companionship: "A person is on the religion of his intimate friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends."
