What is the ruling on singling out the night preceding Friday for giving charity and feeding the poor, especially if the beneficiaries are among the wealthy, and does this fall under the prohibition of singling out Friday with a specific act of worship?

The reward for giving charity on Friday and its eve is greater than on other days, just as giving charity in Ramadan is greater than in other months. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah used to secretly give away whatever he found in his house when he left for Friday prayer, following Allah’s command to give charity before privately consulting the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Thus, giving charity before privately consulting Allah is better. It is sunnah to increase charity and good deeds on Friday and its eve, as well as to increase sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. There is no harm in specifically giving food on Friday night, and it is permissible to feed the rich from voluntary charity. This differs from specifically dedicating its night to standing in prayer, which is forbidden.
