Is it permissible to subjugate jinn through incantations, such as reciting Ayat al-Kursi thousands of times?

Reciting specific verses or surahs a certain number of times to obtain specific benefits is an innovation (bid'ah), especially if their source is books of sorcery and magic. Some charlatans and sorcerers claimed that they obey jinn and devils by obeying Allah and supplicating to Him, and that this is done through the names of Allah. However, this claim is false, as some of them were heretics who abandoned prayer and drew near to Iblis.
