Is money earned from working as a flight attendant, during which alcoholic beverages are served, considered unlawful, even though it was used for charitable acts such as Hajj and Sadaqa?
It is not permissible to give charity from unlawful money, for Allah is good and accepts only what is good. Whoever gives charity from unlawful money will not receive any reward, and the sin remains upon him.
The unlawful portion of the salary yields no reward for its owner if spent on righteous deeds. As for the permissible portion of the salary, it is permissible to spend it. The owner of unlawful money must dispose of it by spending it on the interests of Muslims, and for this, he will receive the reward of repentance. As for the remaining lawful money, there is no harm in spending it on himself, giving it as charity, or investing it.
The profit from unlawful money invested in a permissible field is a matter of scholarly disagreement.
