Is the act of a young man who refused his parents' request to live near them and chose a residence he prefers considered disobedience, or is it his right to choose his residence?

Filial piety is one of the greatest acts of devotion to Allah Almighty, and obeying them in what is good is obligatory, especially if it benefits them and does not cause harm to the son. If the son refuses to obey his parents in choosing a residence near them without a legitimate reason, he must repent and strive to please them. However, if the distance from the parents is due to his certainty or strong presumption of harm befalling him, then there is no blame on him, and he must still strive to please them in all circumstances.
