Is it obligatory to incur debt in order to purchase the Udhiyah?

The Udhiyah (sacrifice) is a Sunnah, not an obligation. It is unanimously agreed that the Udhiyah is not obligatory for the one who is not wealthy. It is recommended to borrow money for the Udhiyah if the borrower expects to be able to repay the debt. However, if they do not expect to be able to repay it, then it is preferable not to borrow.
