Is it permissible for the wife to refuse to go to her husband's family home and to refrain from visiting them and from letting the children stay overnight with them?

The wife is not legally obligated to visit the husband's family, but it is preferable. It is not her right to prevent the children from staying overnight with the husband's family unless there is a legitimate reason. The husband should try to persuade his wife to visit his family and endure any harm she might encounter, and emphasize dialogue between the spouses to avoid divorce and family disintegration. The husband's statement to his wife: "I don't want you" is considered an implicit pronouncement of divorce (kinayah), and divorce occurs if intended. It is not permissible for the husband to strike his wife except according to the strictures of Sharia.
