What is the ruling on one who committed adultery with his father's wife during Ramadan, taking into consideration that he was involved in a car accident which he views as a punishment for his deed, and that he is still suffering from its consequences?

Adultery is one of the grave sins, and its prohibition becomes more severe and its crime greater if it is committed with a mahram (definition) (unmarriageable kin) or the wife of a neighbor. If someone commits adultery with his father's wife during the daytime in Ramadan (definition), he must hasten to sincere repentance, express remorse, and resolve never to return to such an act. He is also obligated to perform the major expiation, which is: freeing a slave, or fasting for two consecutive months, or feeding sixty needy persons, in addition to making up the fast day. His punishment in this world is the implementation of the hudud penalty: one hundred lashes if he was unmarried, and stoning to death if he was married. His punishment in the Hereafter is by the will of Allah, but sincere repentance or the implementation of the hudud penalty serves as expiation for his sins.
