What is the ruling on adultery in Ramadan?

Adultery is forbidden and an abomination at all times, but it is even more prohibited and sinful in Ramadan. Whoever commits adultery while fasting during the daytime in Ramadan is obligated to make up for the fast (qada') along with expiation (kaffarah): freeing a slave, and if unable to do so, then fasting for two consecutive months, and if unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor people.
