The answer

Paying off the debt of the deceased is obligatory upon their heirs from their wealth. The inheritance is not to be distributed until after the will has been executed and the debt has been paid off. It has been reported in the Sunnah what emphasizes the prompt payment of debt, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The soul of the believer is suspended by his debt until it is paid off on his behalf." The debt that must be paid off is the original debt that became established upon the deceased. As for the additional interest due to delay, it is forbidden usury, and it is not permissible to pay it voluntarily, unless the heirs are compelled to do so.
