Is it permissible for a man to use a hair clip to secure his long hair, and is this considered an imitation of women?

In growing his hair long, a man should consider the customs and traditions of the people. If growing hair long is not customary for men in his country, then he should not do so, especially if he intends to tie it with a clip, as women do. However, if it is customary for them to grow their hair long, then there is no harm, provided he is careful not to imitate women by using hair clips, due to what has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding his curse upon men who imitate women.
