"What is the remedy for excessive sleep, and how many hours did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sleep? "
"Praise be to Allah and blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah and upon his family and companions. To proceed:
The treatment for excessive sleep and the difference between reprehensible sleep and otherwise have been previously clarified in fatwas no. 64676 and 98375.
There is no precise determination of the Prophet's sleep in hours, but he used to sleep during the noon (nap), and at night he would sleep initially and wake up in the second half to worship. He would strive more in Ramadan, particularly in the last ten days.
Daytime sleep is of three types: - Khuluq (natural): the noon nap (which is among the Sunnah of the Prophet) - Hurq (harmful): morning sleep (which distracts from worldly and religious duties) - Humq (foolish): afternoon sleep

And Allah knows best."
