If I enter into a state of Ihram for myself before the Miqat, and then enter into a state of Ihram at the Miqat for another person, will the Umrah be for me or for the other person?
If a Muslim enters into with the intention of performing or Hajj for himself, then changes his intention after ihram, the ritual is counted for whomever he initially intended it for, whether it was for himself or for someone else, based on the Almighty’s saying: (And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah).
It is not permissible to change the intention after ihram. Once a person enters an act of worship with a specific intention, he cannot withdraw from it, otherwise his ritual would be incomplete.
As for the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to the man to perform Hajj for himself first before performing it for Shubrumah, it was because the man's ihram for someone else was contradicted by a legitimate impediment, which was his not having performed Hajj for himself.
