Is the fetus's soul created before ensoulment, or is it created thereafter?

The souls of human beings were created before they were breathed into their bodies. The souls of the fortunate are on Adam's right, and he laughs when he sees them, while the souls of the wretched are on his left, and he cries when he sees them. This is as stated in the Hadith of Isra' (Night Journey): "The people on his right are the people of Paradise, and the black figures on his left are the people of Hell. When he looked to his right, he laughed, and when he looked to his left, he cried." The "nasam" refers to the souls that have not yet entered bodies, and Adam was informed of their destinies.
