Did Quraysh practice their acts of worship, such as Hajj and Tawaf and idol worship, out of a desire to enter Paradise and be saved from Hellfire? Was the concept of Paradise and Hellfire known to them before the birth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him? And did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, know of their existence before his prophethood?

The disbelievers of Quraysh, like the disbelievers among the Arabs, denied the Hereafter, the Resurrection, Paradise, and Hellfire. Many verses confirm this, including their saying: "When we have died and become dust, will we indeed be resurrected? That is a distant return." (50:3) And "And they swore by Allah their strongest oaths that Allah will not resurrect whoever dies." (16:38) They also said: "It is only our first death, and we will not be resurrected." (37:58) They would also say mockingly: "When is this promise, if you are truthful?" (36:48). It is not unlikely that a few individuals among them had knowledge of the Resurrection, Paradise, or Hellfire, such as Umayyah ibn Abi al-Salt and Zuhayr ibn Abi Salma. As for the Prophet (peace be upon him) before the advent of prophethood, it is not established that he knew the details of faith and revelation. He was a monotheistic believer in Allah, but he did not know the details of the Scripture and faith, as stated in the verse: "You did not know what is the Scripture or faith." (42:52)
