Did the Quraysh perform the rituals of Hajj as Muslims do today? What was the origin of these rituals for them? Did they inherit them from Abraham (peace be upon him) and then commit shirk (idolatry)? And why did the Quraysh enter houses from their backs after Hajj? What was the nature of their prayer and circumambulation (tawaf) around the Kaaba in the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah)? Did they stand at Arafat before the revelation of the verses (of the Quran)? And why do the verses focus on the polytheists' deviation in only some of the Hajj rituals, while neglecting to mention the Hajj of the People of the Book?

The Almighty's saying: "Then depart from where the people depart" is not a command to depart from Muzdalifah, but rather from Arafat, in opposition to Quraish who used to stand at Muzdalifah and were called "Al-Hums." Quraish and the rest of the Arabs used to perform Hajj before Islam, but they altered some of its rituals, such as the Talbiyah (chant) of Hajj and performing circumambulation naked. As for the Jews and Christians, they did not perform Hajj to the Sacred House; for every nation has its own law, and they had their own special pilgrimage, such as visiting the Temple for the Jews and visiting the birthplaces of Jesus for the Christians. And when Jesus, peace be upon him, descends, he will perform Hajj to the Sacred House according to the Sharia of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
