How can a Muslim woman avoid wearing short clothes and plucking her eyebrows, which her mother asks her to do, and which may be considered sinful, without angering her mother, and how should she deal with her if she cannot find a solution that satisfies both parties?

The mother's right is great, and honoring and obeying her is obligatory. However, obedience is not due in matters of disobedience (to God) or what harms the child. Bleaching eyebrows and wearing short clothes that cover the area between the navel and the knee in front of women is not forbidden. The son must obey his mother without falling into sin, honor her, treat her with kindness, and address her with respect and gentleness. It is not permissible to rebuke her or speak harshly to her, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "So do not say to them, 'Uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they nurtured me when I was small.'" (17:23-24). A noble word is a gentle and kind word, like the speech of a sinning servant to a harsh and strict master.
