The blood money (Diyya) should be estimated using the average value of gold, and it is a right for the heirs of the deceased, not for the poor. All heirs benefit from it, males and females, adults and minors. The sister receives half the share of her brother. The level of need of the heirs is not taken into consideration. If some of them are minors, the guardian undertakes to receive their share, spend on them, and invest it until they reach maturity. The mother has no right to the blood money because she was involved in the killing.
