If the compulsion is genuine duress, then the divorce does not occur. However, if it is mere insistence, then it does occur. If you swore by divorce not to speak words of love and admiration to a foreign (non-mahram) woman, and then you broke your oath, the majority of scholars hold that the divorce takes place. You can reconcile with your wife before her 'iddah (waiting period) expires, provided that this divorce does not complete three divorces. Some scholars, like Ibn Taymiyyah, are of the view that the divorce does not occur, but rather an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) becomes obligatory.
